Even at 37 there is no slowing down Vassilis Spanoulis. Thought to be nearing retirement. Spanoulis continues to prove he can still compete at the top level of European basketball.

Perhaps Friday night was another example as Spanoulis notched 14 points and added 5 assists in Olympiacos’ blowout win over AX Armani Exchange Milan.

Spanoulis performance helped Olympiacos claim back-to-back wins in the EuroLeague for the first time this season with a derby clash against Panathinaikos looming in the horizon.

On a personal level, Spanoulis surpassed Juan Carlos Navarro for the all-time lead in Performance Index Rating as he finished the evening with an all-time rating of 3900.

Performance Index Rating, commonly referred to as PIR or Index Rating, is a calculation that takes into account a wide variety of statistics and substracts the negative statistics from the positive ones.

PIR is generally calculated as follows:

(Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks + Fouls Drawn) - (Missed Field Goals + Missed Free Throws + Turnovers + Shots Rejected + Fouls Committed)

Spanoulis managed the feat in 28 fewer games than Navarro, further solidifying how illustrious the Greek guard’s career has been.

1. Vassilis Spanoulis (Greece)  313 games 3900 PIR

2. Juan Carlos Navarro (Spain) 341 games 3890 PIR
