In the summer of 2019, the Dikefalos tou Vorra decided to go their own way, creating a PAOK TV channel which exclusively broadcasts all of their Super League home games. The project has subsequently turned into a huge success for the reigning Greek champions.
It now seems that more Super League clubs are eager to break away from Nova.
According to the latest reports, AEK, Panathinaikos and PAOK all held a meeting concerning the possibility of creating a Super League TV channel, a product which would rival the current one produced by Nova. At the end of the season, Panathinaikos’ contract with Nova will expire, whereas AEK’s deal with the broadcasting company is set to run for a further year. However, if they really want to break away from Nova, AEK will manage to do so.
The fact that Olympiacos supremo, Evangelos Marinakis, is widely expected to complete his takeover of Nova played an overwhelming role in the creation of this idea.
AEK, Panathinaikos and PAOK are trying to convince all remaining clubs in the championship that joining the Super League TV project will be better than staying with Nova.
A business plan for Super League TV is now being shaped.
More developments are expected in the coming weeks.
