Knicks Go vs. Essential Quality

The two contenders of this year’s Breeders Cup that are going to head as the favorite are Knicks Go and Essential Quality. Both horses are trained by the award-winning horse trainer Brad H. Cox.

Knicks Go is bred by Angie Moore, while Essential Quality is from Godolphin. Not only because the same trainer trains both horses, but they also possess the qualities of a winner. This may be the reason why the competition between the two is tight.

Victories of the Top 5

Aside from knowing who the favorites are, it is also recommended that you check out the previous victories of the horses that made it to the top five picks contending for the 2021 Breeders Cup this coming November 5-6, 2021.

Knicks Go

Knicks Go’s dam and sire Paynter and Kosmo’s Buddy must be so proud of their descendant whom already won on multiple races. Just lately, Knicks Go finished the Lukas Classic Stakes (Gr.3) at Churchill Downs last October 2, 2021, as the first place winner.

He also finishes as the first placer on Whitney Stakes (Gr.1) and Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap (Gr.3) last August 7 and July 2, 2021, respectively. Before the mentioned races, Knicks Go has a long list of victories from 2018 to 2021.

Essential Quality

The other favorite of the race is Essential Quality, the descendant of sire Tapit and Dam Delightful Quality. This is not the first time Essential Quality has become the favorite of the race. He had been the favorite on the 2021 Kentucky Derby but unfortunately defeated by Medina Spirit.

Although he finished fourth on the Kentucky Derby, he pulled his self together and became the winner of the consecutive races he entered around later this year which are the Belmont Stakes (Gr.1), Jim Dandy (Gr.2), and Travers Stakes (Gr.1).

Life Is Good

The third horse on our lists based on the latest odds is Life Is Good. Life Is Good nailed his MSW race last year and never finished a race as far as the second position. Aside from finishing number one on the MSW race, he also finished 2021 Sham (Gr.3), 2021 San Felipe (Gr.2), 2021 Kelso Handicap (Gr.2) as the first placer.

He only has one second-place race where Jackie’s Warrior defeated him on the 2021 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (Gr.1).

Hot Rod Charlie

Next on the list would be Hot Rod Charlie. He has a pretty long list of races he has participated in within his two years racing career. However, the last race he participated in won was the Pennsylvania Derby (Gr.1) last September 25, 2021.

He also participated in two of the triple crown race, namely the 2021 Kentucky Derby (Gr.1) and 2021 Belmont Stakes (Gr.1), where he finished third and second, respectively.

Medina Spirit

As the winner of the 2021 Kentucky Derby (Gr.1), the Shared Belief Stakes 2021, the recently finished Awesome Again (gr.1), and the third finisher of the 2021 Preakness Stakes (Gr.1). Medina Spirit is no doubt one of the strongest horses in this 2021 Breeders Cup.

Aside from being in fifth place in the odds and the recent or past victories he achieved, Medina Spirit is also trained by Bob Baffert, one of the top award-winning horse trainers in the industry.

You Have a Wide Array of Options

Knicks Go and Essential Quality are undoubtedly the two most favorite of the race. However, it would be best to forget about the other contenders of the 2021 Breeders Cup. The lineup is full of talented horses that have the potential to turn the table in their favor during the race. So do keep an open mind because you have a lot of options on your plate.
